A busy family wanted to transform a neglected backyard into a haven for rest, relaxation and fun times together.

The vision was to maximise space for a pool so it was really useable in a relatively small back yard. The client wanted an entertaining area, reading nook/retreat, lawn for ball games and a low maintenance and beautiful garden.

We decided to use a wide, underutilised side yard to add to the garden space. I introduced a 5.5 ²m tiled concrete pool with a large sweeping curve for a touch of Art Deco luxury.

Planting is lush, with tropical overtones (suited to Melbourne) and includes plenty of natives and sustainable, climate ready choices. The pool will be ready for Christmas 2025.
