Beckwith: A small space maximised

A small inner urban house had been renovated ten years ago but the garden was an afterthought and looking somewhat tired. This busy household wanted low maintenance, bullet-proof plants and to limit the damage that the two beloved rescue beagles were doing to the garden.

First, I gave the existing trees a good prune to create an understorey for garden beds and organised the removal of a dying apricot tree. A dog run was created around the perimeter of the garden using Westringia fruticosa (a hardy native hedging plant) to screen this area off, but allowing the dogs to have their space.

Curved garden beds were made from rusted corten steel edging and Parisian style looped garden edging keeps the dogs out of the garden beds.

One year on and the garden is going well and the doggos are happy.
