My client had recently retired and bravely made the leap across the Yarra, from the south to the northern suburbs. She took over a tired house with a 70s update. The garden As part of the exterior concept design, I developed a materials and colour palette to update the façade of the house.

The brief was to design a bird and bee attracting garden with lots of annual and perennial flowers, fruit trees and raised beds for vegetables. Accessibility and access were important for aging in place. My client would build the concept in stages with specialist help as required.

I made an inventory of the main existing plants – to recommend what should stay and go for the new design. I recommended a good arborist to assess the established trees, remove what was not wanted or in bad condition and give the rest a good prune to create an understorey for newly designed garden beds.
